Welcome to Glitterati Revolution. “Glitterati” is defined as “wealthy or famous people who are highly fashionable.” I am here to inform, entertain, and engage my readers to see fashion as a movement rather than just a form of dress. Intelligent and constructive criticism and feedback are welcomed; whether you love or hate what you read, I am confident that you will leave my site with a greater knowledge of fashion’s influence on the world’s culture.
My favorite part of the Fall and Winter season is being able to wear any type of boot I can think of. While living in Minnesota for 20 years I didn’t get the opportunity to wear many boots with the stilleto heels I love because of all the snow and ice, so I celebrate this time of the year in Georgia properly. From ankle booties to thigh- high there is something for everyones outfit and style. Here are some of my personal favorites at several price points and lengths:
BCGB Open-Toe Cutout Bootie $250
Forever 21 Over The Knee Boots $29.80
Aldo Cirocco $160
As we all know accessories can make of break an outfit. Depending on where you’re going, the season, and the type of outfit you’re wearing will determine which accessories are perfect for you. For Fall and Winter 2010, there are several things you will need to add flare to your favorite outfit. Remember…think big!
1. The classic black pump.
2. An oversized black blag.
3. An oversized scarf.
4. A cocktail ring.
5. A pair of sunglasses
Ladies! Tights are most definitely still in for Fall and Winter 2010. Instead of feeling forced to put away those garments that show off your legs you can stay warm by throwing on a pair of cute tights that can be found in almost any style, pattern, or color. Bright colored tights are a fun way to add pop to any plain outfit. Patterned tights go well with any solid colored ensemble.
I think the answer to this question is quite simple; PASS! (for me atleast). Kitten Heels are back! I’m not exactly sure how this happened but it’s definitely not something I am ready for. There is just nothing I find appealing about a heel of 2 inches of less that is angled inward. Hopefully this is the excuse of the huge amount of people I saw wearing them last week. I honestly cannot believe my eyes… This is certainly a nightmare that has come true.
Prada has released this shoe and incorporated their Fall 2010 patent leather design that can also be seen on their handbags this season. Perhaps this style was better left in the 50s.
Kelly Cutrone’s latest bestseller, “If You Have to Cry, Go Outside and Other Things Your Mother Never Told You” is a true inspiration to anyone interested in the fashion industry. This book is a firsthand outlook on the many obstacles Cutrone had to overcome to succeed as a fashion publicist and founder of her own public relations, branding, and marketing firm.
When this book was first released, I attended the signing and got the opportunity to meet Ms. Cutrone! I had to get through a line of hundreds of people and stayed up until midnight, but it was worth the wait. How often do you get to exchange a few kind words with a highly influential person in your field?
“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
Ruthie Davis is a designer that recently caught my attention when thumbing through Zink magazine. These sexy designs can be seen on the feet of celebrities including Amber Rose, Beyonce, and Lady Gaga. Davis has turned the stilleto platform into a whole new look for young fashionistas who want to rock something memorable in an appropiate setting. The pair that stood out the most was a platform stilleto bootie enscrusted with diamonds and spikes on the back and heel of the shoe surrounding a zipper clousure. These are HOT and can be worn with a basic leather or denim jacket leaving the same options for bottoms as well. Skinny’s will always do the trick this season!
So I know it’s been well over a year since I’ve blogged on this site but I have accomplished many things since the last time I logged on. I may not be able to post entries as often as I’d like due to my amount of school work but I will make it a point to visit and update all of you frequently. I have been truly inspired by my educational institution and all of the experience it has granted me over the last year and I plan to share some of this knowledge with all of you.
